Sent: Saturday, August 08, 2009 7:23 AM. Subject: Old Popcorn Wagon. I have come into the posession
of an old popcorn wagon which I bought from a guy in Glennwood Springs, CO. He
told me that the manufacture date of the wagon was 1898, and that a man named
Harper, who was from the Farmington area,
pulled it with a horse to various festivals in the area for 40 to 50
years. When he died, his son kept it in a barn on his ranch for several
years, then sold it to a restaurant owner in Farmington, who also
used it at festivals and fairs. I have used it at several events here in Illinois this
summer, but am interested in returning it to it's
original condition. Would you have any links to old pictures of Farmington that might
have the wagon picturedor any other insight as to it's origins? If so, please let me know. Thank you!

Subject: Query
I am searching for
any info on Victoriano Arguello
and or Helena Rodriguez, they married
at Mosquero Catholic church around 1908. I
believe both of them were born in Taos or Penasco New Mexico in the early 1870's. We
think Victoriano Arguello
was the son of Mateo Arguello and Manuella ? de Arguello. Victoriano and Helena's children,
Domitilia, Mateo, Pacomio,
Nickolasa, Polonita. They
lived in Albert New Mexico through the early 1900's Domitilia
married Antonio Velarde or Velasques
- from my memory the last place they lived at was Clayton, and I
believe they had several daughters. Would like to contact anyone who is a descendent of Victoriano
and Helena Arguello - on the Arguello or Rodriguez side of the family.
Any information on any
of one or from anyone will be
appreciated.

Query: Sam SMITH born in 1857 in OH and Ida EAMES were married in Las Vegas, NM in 1892. They evidently met while he was
there at the end of a run. He was an engineer on the AT&SF when a cinder
popped into his eye, and later died after being taken to Topeka for major hospital work. I have a newspaper
article on the death of Sam Smith that stated he was about 49 years old, one of
the oldest engineers on the Santa Fe system. It also states that he married
Miss Ida Eames in Las Vegas in 1892.
Sam's and Ida's children included George, William, Edwin, James, and Hattie. He
was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, local lodges of the
Masons and the Oddfellows. The newspaper had to be
dated about June 15, 1906 when he died in Topeka.
He was the son of James Brady J.B. SMITH and Susan KNEASEL
of Ethel, MO. They are my great-great grandparents, and
were married 7 February 1856 Sam had two brothers, Sherman and George.
J.B. was a Civil War soldier. According to J.B.'s pension record, he was born in 1818 in Westmoreland County, PA. His wife states as part of his pension
record that they lived in Sullivan County, MO when J.B. enlisted at St. Joseph. Among some pictures was one of two
children, James Brady SMITH and Harriet Jane SMITH . I
didn't know the relationship until I accidentally saw ink written on the back
of the small picture. My Family Chart named Harriet Jane as daughter of Sam and
Ida. If you could help in getting census info, I would deeply appreciate it, I
have been working on this since shortly after my mother died in 1976, to no
avail, until now. The family Bible provided a great deal of information, but I
haven't been able to locate Sam Smith and Ida Eames
Smith in the census.

Query: I am trying to find any information on the death of my
father, Robert L. BOWMAN, and grandfather, Doe possibly Earnest Walter BOWMAN.
They both lived in New Mexico most of their lives. My father was hit by
a train in the mid 1980s, I believe. He normally lived around Artesia. My
mother's name was Helen L. BOWMAN. My grandfather trained race horses and spent
his time around Sunland Park and Ruidoso Downs. I believe he died in
the 1970s. My parents divorced when I was quite young, and I have not had any
contact for more than 20 years. I am trying to research my father's family, and
can find nothing as far as where they are buried. I would appreciate any help
you can give me.

Query: I am unsure where the family originated. I know that Juan Ygnacio MIERA and María Nicolás GARCIA were the family that started the town of Miera with the Garcías
in Bueyeros, near Clayton.
They came from Cañada de los
Álamos near Santa Fé. I
have been unable to find who Juan's father is, and I would appreciate any help
or suggestions. Juan was born about 1823 and died in March 1893. He is buried
in the Miera Church near Clayton. I believe he was born in Algodones, but can't find any records. He and his oldest
son, Francisco, were the ones who found grazing lands in the old town of Miera. The next year they settled there, and
shortly after, established a Post Office.

Query: My grandfather, Patrick R. FINNERTY/FINERTY, made an
application for naturalization in Albuquerque in 1886. He did not follow up on the
application and did not become a citizen at that time.
He arrived in the port of the city of New York on March 6, 1880. He was aboard SS City of Montreal. The
next record I can find is his marriage on October 12, 1884 at Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque. I am hoping to find the petition for
naturalization that he made in Albuquerque in 1886, and that it might shed some light
on what he was doing from the time the ship docked in 1880 and when he got
married in 1884.
Does anyone know if this application might be on file somewhere? If so, can you
please direct me on how to obtain a copy? Thanks!

Query: I am searching for my great-great grandfather, William
Russell GRAHAM, who did not return to his Arkansas home after serving in the US Army in the
Mexican War. He may have been a casualty, but I recently received vague and
unconfirmed information from a distant branch of the family that he survived
the war, stayed in New
Mexico,
and married a local woman.
Our branch of the family had thought that he died before 1850, but we have no
details of where or when. His wife/widow in Arkansas remarried before the 1850 census. Since
she evidently never applied for a Widow's Pension, I tend to believe he did not
die in the War, that he died of other causes, or that
he abandoned his Arkansas family or she abandoned him.
Are there sources available in New Mexico which would list Army casualties of the
various battles in New
Mexico
during the Mexican War? Information I've found on the Web is inconclusive. If
he survived the war and married there, are there territorial marriage records
in which his marriage would be recorded? He reportedly used his middle name,
Russell or Russel, as his given name.
