Submit Questions and Queries

If you have questions or queries about ancestors in New Mexico...

Posting your genealogy query in the right county is always more effective. Most counties have volunteers who can do lookups, and most records and books are maintained at county levels. If you need help locating which county to post your query in, email Angela and tell her the name of the city/town and she'll look it up for you. She has The Place Names of New Mexico to help with your lookup. Again, you'll have much better response with your query if you post it in the right county. [Counties]

If you do not know the city/town or county where your ancestor(s) lived, you may post a New Mexico genealogy query by e-mailing the State Coordinator. We will endeavor to forward your query to someone who may have the resources to answer your questions. If no additional help is available, your query will be posted on the state page for other visitors to read. Many of our posted queries have been answered by visitors to NMGenWeb.

Some basic guidelines before posting your query in this area --

-- You MUST have a subject in your e-mail message, or it will be deleted. Use a surname or the topic of your inquiry.

-- Please enter your e-mail address carefully . If the address is incorrect, no one will be able to contact you.

-- The more information you provide in your query, the better the results. Include a few details such as a date (or best guess), name of person, name of spouse, parents, children, etc.

Finally, please note that we do not have access to
New Mexico tourism information nor do we do lookups to support investigation or research on living persons.

These queries are posted for all to read, but may not result in an answer. Queries including a few details such as a date or date range, name of spouse, parents, children, or siblings get better responses. General genealogy questions about
New Mexico, will be answered as time allows.
